…anyone really expects and more than you can explain. After five years of very hard, rewarding, work we felt almost satisfied. Leaving behind close friends and incredible students was difficult to say the least. We really appreciated the chance Mr. Mock gave us to be so involved in building upon a solid foundation laid by quality educators. Our time, effort, and ideas were well spent and the love and appreciation will provide us with years worth of energy and satisfaction. We sincerely wish the best for DAA and our gratitude for all it provided us, will always remain immense.

Freshies in Nam

In Honduras we learned more than Spanish! We learned the world is incredibly interconnected in ways we could not imagine back home. Our students, friends, and coworkers all knew the details of American politics and pop culture and they also took great pride in their own. We could not have learned more in such a short time from such good people. Jess and I are still very proud of the experiences and relationships we developed in Central America. Julio, Alex, Gisela, and our amigos gringos gave us lifelong friends.

If things go well and I am considered qualified enough to be rehired at CART, I’ll again get to teach kids from all over the greater Fresno area. Helping to build new communities where one has to be renewed yearly is exciting and pretty tough.

…with this site? This site will hopefully be a place where my thoughts and interests will solidify beyond the abstract! As I begin to understand the power of this digital space, what it can offer, what connections it allows, the potential for discussion and debate is exciting to say the least. My crazy set of interests will be represented within this blog and hopefully you all can add content and conversation as it is being built. The more contributions the better!
